Known as the "Switzerland of the Americas," Costa Rica has a strong democratic
tradition and a long history of a peace-loving society. Costa Ricans are a self-assured
and hospitable people, proud of their democracy and ideals of personal liberty.
Located in the heart of the western hemisphere, this small country is centered between
the Caribbean and the Pacific Oceans; with a series of towering mountain chains
running from the north to the south. A high altitude plain known as the central
valley sits on these ranges, with the coastal lowlands on either side, providing
for a climate renowned as "eternal spring".
The country’s strategic position, the government’s
positive attitude toward foreign investment, its history of democracy, healthy economy,
education, protection of natural resources and the distinct opportunity to live
a peaceful existence are all reasons why Costa Rica has become a true success story.
